BERGEN TOOLS, any good?

Just been looking on the bay for a decent quality Torx and Hex set as I'm sick of cheap ones breaking or rounding off.

Was searching for Draper and Sealey as Ive had good results from these makes in the past.

This 18pc Sealey set for £19.95 caught my eye:

But then i also noticed an 18pc set by Bergen Tools that looks identical but is far cheaper:

Are they the same keys but re-branded? or is Bergen Tools a cheap copy?

EDIT: Grrr just realised i'll need some longer ones for a few jobs.

So.......... by the time you add postage to the Bergen, it's what? A whole couple quid cheaper.

If the Sealey is known to be good and has free postage, why are you even considering the Bergen, lol.
 
It appears they are probaly pretty decent. A kind of Semi-pro range. From 10 mins googling around. Here's one thread (if you can decipher some of the posts) http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f16/britool-tools-67244.html

I've never rated Draper as being any good though.

It appears that most of the makes on this page http://www.toolbox37.com/acatalog/BERGEN.html (franklin, britool, bergen etc) are all from some of the same kind of place, perhaps differnt grades or something. Same parent company maybe?

Well i just found these 2 on ebay and was going to search around for better prices today and just wanted to see if Bergen are any good as they're cheaper. If i was to have a good look round i might be able to find the Bergen set cheaper and with no added postage cost.

whitecrook, Thanks for the links. I did actually find them but was hoping maybe someone on here had used them and could confirm they're decent.

I think I'll just go for the Longer keys in the last link i posted, seems like a pretty cheap store for Sealey tools. £27.80 inc shipping and they're extra long.
 
Just spent around £100 on a load of Bergen sockets and impact sockets, and wow :D

They take a right beating, including my whole weight on the end of a 24" breaker bar with a 17mm Bergen socket.

Got mine from toolbox37, Google them :) brilliant service.
 
Sorry to revive this threat guys but I'm after a set of the Bergen hex/torx, does the advise here still stand, nearly 7 years later? :D
 
I've had my bergen tools (mostly impact sockets) for years now and they have taken some proper abuse without any mishaps.
 
When I was working as an apprentice autoelectrician way back when, my boss was very fond of Bergen gear, and rated it as well as snap-on but the life time warranty on the snap on stuff pushed him in that direction.
 
Just ordered some Bergen ratchet spanners and realised afterwards that they don't have a website, so thought id bought some cheap rubbish by accident... Did some Googling and lo and behold, a thread singing their praise on my home forum. :D

I'll let you know if they're any good! £37 for a set of 12 ratchet ring spanners. :)

Delivery by MyHermes though so they may never arrive.
 
No you are supposed to be selective.

Ratchet spanners come from Halfords professional.
Bergen should be for sockets IMO. Other stuff is pretty poor.

Well we'll see wont we. If I feel that they're awful when they arrive they can go back, no harm done.
 
Bergen are good - we used to use their stuff in the bike shop I worked at when I was younger. Switched to them after we got fed up with Britool ramping thier prices up.
