Bermuda Triangle

Pockets of methane is the most plausible and likely explanation.

It reduces the density and 'carrying' ability of the medium it penetrates, water and air included. Such that planes literally can drop out of the sky and ships sink without any sort of warning.

Edit - and according to Wiki, the disappearances don't differ in number from what is fairly normal in any part of the world.

I watched an explanation of Flight 19 a few weeks ago.
In this documantary it reckoned they flew way of course, actually flew over the mainland and all ran out of juice and crash landed into the Florida swamps.

interesting, don't know what efects methane gas has but it would have to account for numerous things.....Radio interference, instrument malfuntion, disorientation. The ship that was found floating but all crew vanished, is methane responsible for all this?

Go on then, just say it, you know you want to:

That was the Marie Celeste, a hyperbolic and unrelated legend.

Your jumping the gun and assuming that one thing caused all of the disappearances and assuming it is a unique place.

Carroll A Deering was run aground. Thought to be mutiny or piracy.

I'm sure with a quick google, you can find similar stuff for the rest.

Once you takeaway that not everything is linked and that Bermuda triangle is unique and stuff goes missing everywhere.

First, a lot of the so-called "Bermuda Triangle" ships disappeared outside the area concerned.

Second, the area concerned is huge, and the number of ships that have disappeared there is actually no higher than you'd expect given the size of the area, the timespan covered, and the number of vessels crossing it. Bear in mind that on average one merchant ship sinks every day somewhere in the world, many with little or no trace. So "mysterious" disappearances are actually pretty common.

Third, the water there is VERY deep, so finding no trace means little.

Fourth, many of the "stories" tend to get exaggerated, or are just outright wrong. Most of the writers just parrot each other, with very few doing original research. We know Flight 19 got lost and ran out of fuel, the only real mystery is why they got lost and allowed it to happen. As for the Mary Celeste (which was outside the area), most of what people have heard is not true; but is taken from a fictionalised version written by Conan-Doyle. The ship was definitely abandoned by its crew, with the only mystery being: why? Most likely a fire or feared explosion in the cargo of ethanol.

Isn't methane the fart gas?:p

One-time famous warbler Barry Manilow sang a song about it:

Quite a catchy little ditty.

There is still an air of mystery and my thoughts of what really happened to flight 19. Experienced pilots do not get lost or suddenly look down at thier fuel gages and say oh crap we forgot to check our fuel levels. To me that's just as strange if not even stranger than the Methane gas theory. I am an open minded person and do not rule out rational explanations it's just a little odd which is why I threw it open for debate.

It really has got me thinking now though and I will research the vessels and aircraft in question.

Pilots don't get lost?
What world are you living in. Pilots still get lost today with all the technology. Let alone back in those days.

I think methane in his trouser pockets has nothing to do with anything.

I think no one on this forum knows and you will just get poeple going on about tin hats. PC geeks and strange phenomina dont go hand in hand. Like geeks and girlfriends....lol
