sorry for all these threads, its just that its hard to get an answer on the beryl forums

I upgraded to feisty and installed compiz from syanptic, but the beryl packages got installed too (I didn't mark them) and the only new icons are beryl-related.

Is this normal?

Im getting the WSOD right now...not sure if maybe it's a conflict between compiz & beryl
 
How/why did you install it? I thought Feisty came with compiz installed by default? (system>pref>desktop effects).
 
didn't beryl and compiz merge? either way when i used the new beryl i get the WSOD too, had to uninstall it via the terminal and then downgraded. I use it with most options turned off anyway!
 
Technically they have merged, but it only happened a few days ago and their software is as it was before the merge.

I figured out what's wrong with mine - nvidia dont do drivers for powerpc.

If you're getting the WSOD it's because your video drivers are out of date/not installed.

I don't think fesity comes with compiz pre-installed, its in synaptic though, so all it takes to install it is checking a box.

I also noticed Compiz is shipped with Fiesty, tis kinda cool, shame the close/maxmise etc vanish with it on. :o
 
nice cutting-edge repos :)

However I still don't think theyll work for the OP as he says he's running on PowerPC hardware and there isn't an Nvidia driver for that architecture :(
