Hi all,

We run a high availability BES 5.0.3 platform, but my colleague who looked after it recently left so I need to get a little more understanding before I change anything.

This is the config:

2 Node SQL Mirror + Witness
2 BES Servers (Acitve/Passive pair)

All servers are running Windows Server 2008 R2. I would like to apply Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 onto all of the servers.

What is the best upgrade order? I am thinking:

1. Remove SQL Mirror Witness
2. Patch Witness
3. Re-add Witness
4. Patch passive SQL Mirror node
5. Failover Mirror
6. Patch previously active (now passive) SQL Mirror node.
7. Patch Passive BES Server
8. Move BES to the patched BES Server
9. Patch previously active (now passive) BES Server

Does this seem sensible?

This makes the most sense to me logically, and only requires two outages, once to failover the mirror, and the next to move the BES services to the other BES server.
