Hi, I'm looking for a monitor with the ff spec:

  • 22-24"
  • IPS
  • <8ms response time i.e. to be used for a bit of gaming but not competitive.
  • Adjustable height stand (that should narrow down options - Dell?).
  • Built in speakers (preferable).
I've got an old flat panel Dell Monitor >10 yrs old, which is still going strong but is obviously outdated. I've no idea what its FPS, refresh rates etc are but will probably retard any modern computer game. So, I'm looking for a new monitor to complement my new system (Ryzen 1700x, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB etc).

Given the longevity of my old Dell monitor, I'm inclined to go for a new Dell model, but maybe I can be persuaded with an Asus, AOC if the spec looks right. Cheers.

I ended up buying a AOC 23.6 inch IPS Monitor, HDMI, VGA, MHL, Vesa I2476VW.

I compared it to the old Dell and the images were clearer on the Dell! Can you believe it! A monitor from 2005 is better quality than one with the latest tech in 2016! Oh well, it's going back. I'm going to spend a bit extra and get a new Dell. After all I'm going to have to be looking at it for the next 5 years.

I didn't realise how far behind the curve you are :D Basically anything will be an upgrade, since you're suffering low contrast and silly resolution in addition to poor response times.

Apparently not!
