I had the new version of that Samsung for a while. I found 16:9 24" too small vertically, and also it looked pretty pixelly even though it had a very similar PPI to my previous monitor 24" 1200p 16:10. I think curved 24" is a bit pointless as well.
what would you recommend for the best 1080p monitor please with best image quality and nice ppi? I'm just looking for the best all rounder really25" 1080p is a bit of a concern tbh. That's 88 ppi. Getting a bit low IMO. Display I'm using now is 108ppi, but I'm using windows scaling a bit, but it's very sharp, and for games it's not insane ppi/res like 4k.
I've got a 1080TI and a 1440P monitor but the idea is to downgrade but be as happy as i can with that downgrade. I don't play games like i used to so to have all that equipment is unnecessary. I'd rather but the cash elsewhere whilst still been able to play games when i cantbh I think 1080p is a bit too low res. All eyes are differnent but I'd say around 95ppi is about right (for me) any lower and it's bit like TV, any higher and demands on GPU is a bit much and pixels so tiny in games it's pointless.
For 1080p I'd say 22" is about right, but then 22" is pretty small monitor.
What GPU do you have?
My basket at Overclockers UK:
- 1 x Acer Predator XB252Qbmiprzx 25" 1920x1080 TN G-Sync 240Hz Gaming Widescreen LED Monitor - Black/Red= £299.99
- 1 x Samsung C24FG73 24" 1920x1080 VA FREESYNC 144Hz Gaming Quantum DOT Widescreen Curved Monitor= £269.99
For purely image quality, I think the Samsung would be the best option due to having some of the best contrast ratios and colour accuracy of any 24in 1080p 144hz monitors.
But the TN Acer (with worse image quality) is a really good deal due to G-Sync, ULMB and 240hz.
I would advice to stay far away from that samsung cfg.
The anti-glare coating is the most aggressive seen to date [much more noticeable than even compared to the bog standard gaming tn] It's so pronounced that you can distinguish individual pixels from almost a meter away and I'm not exaggerating here one bit. It's disgusting.
But its what suppose to be its biggest selling point - the high contrast what is an even bigger issue. In any darker scenes in any game you can see ghosting [white or I should say purple-ish like trail behind all objects] so clearly that it becomes too distracting after only a few seconds.
It only ever looks good at still image, leaving the screen completely pointless for gaming. That linked Predator is a steal at that price ,obviously its not gonna compare to any ips panel in still images or desktop use.
Arriving today buddy. I will let you know my honest thoughts on it this eveningDid you get to test out the ACER monitor? How did you find it?
Appreciate that. I will look into this today when i get the monitor. Is it the app called "calibrize"?Display Color Calibration app sorry [search for Calibrate display color]. With color management just set as default. Mixed those up.
Monitor is really nice. The colours are just as nice as my IPS 1440P. The resolution downgrade was initially a shock but I'm getting used to it. Most the games i play also have resolutions scalers on them so I'm not too fussed.Cheers. Was going to order today for delivery tomorrow. May do a bit more research and decide. But yep, please do share
