Best 1156 Cooler?

What is the best 1156 cooler out?

I'm in need of one but don't know which one to go for.

I'm on stock on my i7 860.

Could you point me in the right direction folks?

Probably The H50, Or you could go for a Artic cooler 7 pro, a lot cheaper.

Noctua NH-D14 for best raw performance. Big and noisy though. Beats the H50 by some margin.

H50 for good cooling with small footprint and low noise.

What about the thermalright venomous X?

DH-14 is the absolute best, but also the largest. Then prob the Venomous X, then the Megahalems. Can't go wrong with any of them. All perform to a few degrees with each other.

Noctua NH-D14 being noisy? You should have heard my cooler then

There's a bunch of high-end aircoolers that perform better than Corsair H50. If you have enough airflow in the case:

Noctua NH-D14
Prolimatech Megahalems
Thermalright Venomous-X
Noctua NH-U12P
Zalman CNPS10X Extreme
Scythe Yasya
Akasa Venom
Titan Fenrir

will all give you better results.

Errrm I think you got it the wrong way round when it comes to noise. The NH-D14 is quiet while the H50 is actually quite loud.

I personally would recommend the Noctua NH-D14 or Thermalright VX.

Cheers, I guess I won't have any problems installing them in my case which is the HAF932?

afaik the NH-D14 is a better performer, but it's huge. Like, massively huge. I'd make sure it could fit by taking measurements first.

If you cant go for proper water cooling i would go D14.

I have the HAF932 case. Would it fit?

In terms of height, it's not really no different to other high end coolers so you only have to make sure that the Noctua is compatible with your RAM modules more than anything else.

The HAF is a big case anyway so it'll fit. For reference, the NH-D14 is 160mm tall, same as the Thermalright VX.
