best 120mm PWM fan?

I agree how people can recommend these im not sure?

They are one of the loudest 120mm fans ive used and are far from super silent as they are advertised.

I have one in my case now as i have just installed a Prolimatech Megahalems and i did have a akasa apache but i wanted better temps.

I then installed a viper and i got a few degress knocked but the noise of these vipers are ridiculous.

At the moment i have set the Viper to PWM which has sorted the noise out a little and temps have only increased 3-4C.

I dont get why these fans get continuously rated,as the noise of these just outways the Viper decent airflow benefits.

I will no doubt be putting the apache back in tomorrow

Indeed, they are superb value for money and perform similair to a couple of Noctua's I have here in terms of temps and sound :)

The viper fan are not too loud. If idle at PWM at around 1000rpm, you couldn't hear anything that loud unless if you do benchmarking, overclocking higher, then the viper will rise the fan speed up to 1900rpm and again the noise isn't that bad!

I am running four vipers from the PWM CPU header in my main PC and they are noticeable, I am going to change to Sharkoon's.

The Apache may well be a bit quieter than a viper at full, but from what I read it was no different at the same rpm of the Viper, I bought Vipers after the rave thumbs up it was getting here.

The reason people recommend the vipers for is that they give abit more performance then the apache does, by that i mean a bit more speed for roughly the same cost.

I personally have 2 vipers, that run at 700rpm and are silent, this is when im watching films, general comp usage, gaming, web browsing.

When i start doing F@H, which will load my cpu up, i set them to run at 1000-1100rpm, noticeably yes, but by no means loud. Now as im on custom water, thats really as fast as i ever have to run them.

The odd occasion i ramp them upto full speed then yes they are loud, but no louder then any other 1900rpm fan that i have used in the past.

Well i can see from the specs that its gonna be loud running full whack. But im not going to be running it full whack (one of the reasons why i was interested in pwm), as its gonna be a case fan.

As far as i can tell, it seems to perform pretty much exactly like an apache in the 600-1300rpm range, but has the advantage of cranking up the speed even further should i wanna do a benching run (in which case i dont really mind if it gets noisy) or something similar.

edit: basically my needs are exactly like bifday2ks. He beat me to it lol
