Ok,

I am thinking of selling my 17" macbook pro as it doesn't get used a lot and it is rather heavy to carry around. So I am looking at a more portable solution and these are what I would like spec wise:

Budget - around £500
13" (can be upto 15" but would prefer 13")
2GB+ of memory
Dedicated graphics card (would like to play a few games like COD2 & COD4)
160GB HDD
A intel processor, would be nice to have a P type but not too bothered.

I have found 3 that look promising but would like some other suggestions.

HP Pavilion DV3505ea
Dell XPS M1330 (not to sure about the reliability of the graphics card)
Acer Aspire 5920G

Thanks.

The only other laptop I can think of which you may be able to afford that matches your criteria is the Sony Vaio SZ series which can be had from a certain auction site at reasonable price. Could be slightly a bit over your budget though.

If not this then I think the XPS M1330 would be your best bet as it's very similar in spec but a bit cheaper, the Vaio is just better built.

Yeah I am leaning towards that but the issues with the graphics card are really worrying me, don't want to have had it for a year and it then gives up out of warranty.

Well I had to go upto Tottenham Court Road, London today so had a good browse in the shops. I actually managed to get a look at a Dell M1530 (wasn't on though) and personally I didn't like the looks of it and what with the graphics card issues I am shying away from buying one now.

But I had a play with several of the HP Pavilion line and all I could say was wow!!! I really like the display, keyboard and trackpad. And the overall look of them is far sexyier than the Dells.

My one question at the mo though is how does the AMD Athlon X2's compare to the Intel CPUS? As the ones I am seeing online all seem to be the Athlons??

EDIT: Oh I also managed to look at the Acer Aspire 5920g and while the specs are nice the keyboard colour just didn't look nice at all, specially as it showed how dirty it could get!! Fair enough lots of people had probably used it but it had turned the thing grey, not thanks!!!
