Can anyone recommend a good quality laptop?

Just sent back my Macbook Pro 2.2 back after a few issues and thought I would ask the question before ordering another MacBook Pro.

Always bought Dells in the past but fancied a change really impressed with the MBP and was wondering if I could get the same sort of spec ( or better ) and similiar quality for around the same money. Really was very impressed with the MBP backlit LED Screen.

I would be looking for a screen res of 1440x900 or better but not more than 15". A good quality screen is essential

Any advice would be appreciated.

Just ordered myself an XPS 1530 and even though the website says you can't have anything other than 1280 x 800 (or whatever!), the guy on the phone was happy to change the screen to 1440 x 900 for an extra £50 or so.

Bring on next week!

Seem to have picked the worst possible time to buy a laptop from OcUK, business was obviously pretty good over Xmas!

You really don't need to spend £1400 on a laptop, a business machine that's well specced should be under half that (non gaming_

I only have £1300 in the pot. I want a good quality laptop that will last around 3 years. With all the digging around the MBP seems to offer the best value that ticks all the boxes.

I will wait for a couple of weeks and see what the new launch brings to the table.

Thanks for all the input.

Have a look at the IBM Z61m.
I admit its a little tubby, but otherwise its perfect. Went from a MBP to one of these, and never looked back. Build quality is bombproof, screen is good quality (1680x1050) and the dedicated GFX are semi-decent.

Alternatively have a look at the similar IBM range, again the quality is second to none :)
