Hi all,

I have decided to treat myself and purchase a new laptop.

I have around £1500 to spend.

I intend to use if for the following:

Gaming, DVD viewing + possible downloaded Bluray films. Office - Outlook, word and XL (though not CPU intensive files).

Ideally something with a decent battery life or a cheap 2nd battery (prefereably that can be charged seperatley).

So.... I want to use it for everything 8O)

I did purchase a chunk of a machine from Dell a while back. An XP something or other that would just as much crush your legs when using it on your lap as it would probably out perform most desktops. It was very high spec and very high priced. BUt the main issue with it was the size and weight of the machine and the fact that the batter lasted 2 hours!!

So... any advice?

Cheers

Also.... does anyone know how long it takes to delivery something from OCUK if its stated that its in stock, but i upgrade various parts?

ie.... i like some of their laptops, but want higher spec.... if i change the spec, does this mean that it remains in stock or that they need to check on their stock levels for the upgrades??

Cheers

When I ordered mine, it was configured and delivered to my door within 2 working days.

This is actually a "manufacturer's" website....Rock laptops, and neither do Overclockers sell them!

Actually they are a reseller of Clevo notebooks, which overclockers do sell, but they are still in a direct competition with overclockers anyway so would be a good idea to remove the linky.

I have been looking at an MSI GT725 recently thats around £1200, should be out early Feburary, but you are requesting a battery life > 2 hours which isnt very common among 17" laptops, mostly they are around 2 hours battery.

Longest one that I know of atm is probably a Macbook Pro with upto around 8 hours due to some funky battery voodoo that its doing, but thats closer to £2000 which is due to come out soon as well.

But other than that my knowledge on 'long-life' 17" notebooks is limited.
