Best 2.1 system around? Find me!

The Acoustic Energy ones are superb for the money, never heard the other ones though but they definitely do look flash, if a bit pricey imo.

If I was looking for new PC speakers, had the room for a 2.1 set up and had £250 spare, I would plumb for the Acoustic Energy ones. :)

Ive had AE speakers for a while. While they are generally OK I noticed a slight pop and crackling sound coming from them since the very first day I bought them.

Sent loads of Emails to Acoustic Energy and they ignored all my complaints. Be warned.

Hahahhaah look at that razer system, biggest waste of money ever. Sorry, but if you buy this then you really are a fool.

I just spat out tea onto my desk, hahahahahahah :D:D:D:D:D

Get the aegos if you want a pc system, otherwise for music get separates and bookshelf speakers

Interesting...hmm, may have to do a bit more looking around. Keep the comments coming! :)

Edit: What about the Bose 3? Or the "PHILIPS ProGamer PC 2.1 amBX Loudspeaker Kit"...has some sort of special features with lighting i think?

Well thanks for your opinion, but I'll pay whatever I want for whatever I want because I can. And I'm happy with my purchase. Hope you didn't damage your £5 keyboard with the tea :D

Over 200 ******* pounds for some crap speakers tarted up with marketing spiel to make them sound good.

Im sorry but I have never seen such an overpriced soundsystem in my whole life. You could get a great 2nd hand amp and bookshelf speakers for that money.

THX and other fancy marketed sound rubbish does not mean good sound, another rubbish product from razer, their sound engineers should stick to mice and mats, let the real audio engineers at other companies release good speaker systems. PLease return yours and spend some money on speakers that can actually produce quality sound, your ears will thank you.

My keyboard is fine, got the desk :p

I'm sure I read on TrustedReviews that the T3 series are very good? Either way, have a read through their site's Audio section. Very good.

Lol, grow up :p

I'm sure -Ad- wouldn't dare to have a £5 keyboard spoiling the gorgeous appearance of his Kuro :D

Edit: I have a pair of the Aego Ms and they're superb. Strange how they've gone up in price since I bought them for £80 inc. VAT 20months ago though, I suppose they must be popular.

Mine are probably knackered because I've given them to a housemate after 'upgrading', but they'd still beat anything else in the pricerange and even those ghastly Razr things.

All you people laughing at the Razer kit, have you actually listened to them? Not trying to start a flame war, but surely you can only base your opinon on what they sound like? :p

Looking at specs it has some noteworthy features. It says bi-amplified which is a good thing but just about every 2.1 system does. Omni-directional sats (and by nature any monopole sub) is interesting, should make it more useable in other positions around the room and not just at the desk. This is probably at the expense of high frequency clarity however since I'm sure it doesn't use a tweeter and trying to disperse the treble from an extended range driver will invariably fail. Like the quote "comparible to studio quality", well yes, in the way one could make the comparison "god, these sound nowhere near as good as the ATCs!".

It's a £13 cherry keyboard and built like a brick, perfect for any budding ocuk keyboard warrior :D

The aego Ms are very good for their size, but it is just that the rzer system is stupidly priced, especially with all that spiel about fancy THX tech, and very common features tarted up by marketing.

Also I would love to see that set go down to 25hz as said, not unlikely, impossible more like. I'm not trying to say that it is horribly bad, but at that price the only parallel for me is BOSE, who charge about x6 too much for their products. Over £200 for a 2.1 pc speaker system is silly, especially considering it comes from that well renound audio manufacturer razer. I can see the hi-fi buffs selling their NAD, rotels, B&ws, monitor audios, and I might sell my ATCs as tis system offers such great value from the experts at razer ;)

Ok Il stop ranting, maybe I will start a separate thread on the subject before I keep well off the beaten track of this thread.

I would say go for the Aego set OP :D

They quote 25hz but that will be the -10db point, not a very honest way to quote it. They do spec 40-18,000hz +/-2.5db however so your more typically used -3db point will be close to 40hz. I think the Logitechs use -6db for thiers (not listed but simulations of the driver in a similar box show this) but in Hi-Fi you usually see -3db; it's what I'd use :)

If you haven't heard the Razer kit then you can't talk about it, I bought it based not just on the style but on the reviews, and I bought it from OcUK because they had the best price. Now if someone that hasn't heard them but thinks the big clunky wooden ones sound better wants to lecture me on which speakers to buy on the forums run by the people I buy most of my expensive hardware from then fine.... I just say I don't give a No Swearing!. So bite me.

If you've heard them and can give an objective review then do so, otherwise stfu. I don't care how many forum posts you've got, personally I only come here when I want to buy stuff, and I've been coming here for a LONG time. The speakers sound excellent and I've had nothing but good comments on the quality of the sound from them. But the main reason I got them is the style, which suits my desk perfectly. So as I said before I'm very happy with my purchase.

I could have quite easily hooked up the 5.1 bowers and wilkins VM1 set + denon amp I've got spare stored in the cupboard at the moment but I wanted small, compact, stylish and sound quality. So why don't you consider what you're saying before you start calling people fools next time.

There is no way in hell they are worth that much, I don't need to hear them to be able to tell that. Just inability of the drivers used in those speakers to actually prodcue any realy midrange and proper sound. It's a typical gimmicky system just like these razer 5.1 headphones with amp near £100.

Im glad your happy with it, but next time do some research and don't just believe the reviews of internet gaming geeks, stick to speakers that look like proper speakers as they do the job well. Why do you think hi-fi manufacturers have stuck to that design and not moved to silly little balls with fancy tech.

Also my post count it totally irrelevant, but I have a lot of experience, so don't dismiss my opinion when it is only the truth.
