Best 2.1 system for under £50?

I am looking for the same thing.

I have done some digging and seem to be drawn to the Logitech Z-4e's or the Creative I-Trigue 3330's at the moment.

Both are just under £50.

They're nothing on a decent set of speakers, I've got the 5.1 version of the X-230 and thought they were great, but when you hear them against a decent pair of speakers they're really lacking.

What... you mean a more expensive set of speakers? Whodathunkit.

No you can get better ones around the £30 mark, I changed my X-530s for a pair of Gigabyte GP-S6500 which only cost me £20 and they sound much nicer, but they're not as bass heavy as the X-530.

There's also the Logitech X-240 2.1 Channel Speakers with Ipod dock for around £25, which are pretty good value, not heard these in action though they're probably very similar to the X-230.

There's also a 2.1 version, GP-S7500, but I haven't been able to find them anywhere. After Minstadave's post I had to buy the S6500s.

The X-240's are less powerful and worse all-round unfortunately, so best avoided.

The Gigabyte 6500's are less powerful (almost half the rated RMS) and have no sub! Also reading reviews and user reviews they provide only average performance... whereas in stark contrast the X-230's have rave reviews both professionally and from users.

X-230's are definately still the best choice at this price-point, and especially of those you listed. :)
