Best 2 player board games?

Me and my partner are having a quiet new years eve this year and I got to thinking if there may be some fun games we could play?

I ordered one called Forbidden Island that looks pretty cool

Forbidden island is fun for sure.

What kind of game do you fancy? Something co-op or vs? Do you have much space for a board?

I think we are fairly open to dip our toe in to any genre really, maybe not heavy strategy, I would like that but my partner not so much.

I grabbed forbidden island mainly as I thought Co op may help ease us in to board gaming together more so than trying to destroy eachother right away
