Basically as above. I'm looking for a standard aspect ratio monitor as I don't have room for a widescreen model.

The monitor will be used for 3d and ps work mainly, possibly some light gaming use too.

Any guidance/advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply d.m. I was looking at that dell but its got a pretty slow resonse time given its fairly steep price?

Maybe I'm expecting more bang for my buck than I should be..?

What you're paying for is a decent panel that will be miles ahead of the usual TN rubbish most manufacturers peddle at sizes under 30".

You're getting either an S-IPS panel (best there is for colour reproduction and viewing angles) or an S-PVA panel (still very good, but not on a par with S-IPS).

IIRC I read that a lot of the current crop are the S-IPS, but Dell did the whole "panel lottery" fun and games with this model. You're also paying for an uncommon size, most large monitors are now widescreen.

What philjohn said really, as you are only doing 'light' gaming then the quality of the panel is the main thing and personally I would say that you arent likely to really notice the response time anyway :)

Shop around and see if you can pick up an old Viewsonic VP201, stunning monitor.
