Best 200mm case fan

Hi all,

Been working out which of my fans is making an annoying noise and it's the top fan on my thermotake element S case. Specs say it is 230mm but measuring it gets it as 200mm.
Long story short, what's the best 200mm fan? I'm not bothered by it being totally silent but equally I don't want it to sound like a plane. It also only needs to be 20mm deep, making it more interesting!
OCs don't seem to sell one, the only one on the site being out of stock, so hopefully they wont mind you pointing out others.

Any help greatly appreciated,

For 20mm deep you might be restricted to corsair 200mm fans.

Currently the best (in terms of airflow) 200/230mm fan on the market is the bitfenix spectre pro that comes in at 30mm deep, next in line is the CM Megaflow which is also 30mm deep.

Sadly I don't think there is a spare cm in the width. I've spotted the Xigmatek XLF-F2004 and the Bitfenix 200 Spectre, should both fit. Any suggestions?

From the few pics I can find of the top of that case is it the covering mesh that is the size factor?

As if thats the problem how much room do you have on the underside of that 200/230mm mount? Seen a few pics that show enough room IMO for a 30mm thick fan on the underside rather than the top.

Yeah it is. I'm going to finally get around to putting new CPU cooler in at the weekend, so I think there is enough room to hang a fan down atm, but wont be after. I would cut the mesh off the top of the case but the fan is slightly offset from the mesh.

RE the bitfenix spectre 200mm (not pro) the threads for screws are only on one face of the fan, used for intake. So if you want to use it as exhaust you need longer screws.. or something.

I really stretched out some rubber isolation mounts that came with some enermax fans to mount mine in the roof of a 600t.

What's it like as a fan? Noise vs. air wise? I'm tempted to replace both the fans if I do one, one intake, one out.

it's quieter than the stock fan for me, but my stock fan at the top was making an odd whirring sound.

As for moving air idk, with 200mm it's hard to *feel* a difference with your hand. It moves air, that's all I could say.

In the front I have a coolermaster megaflow but hate the LED so I'm looking at getting a spectre pro.

Just so you know I get an annoying noise with my spectre pro 230mm, I've put it down to the fact that the fan is pulling around 160cfm of air through the mesh. This is creating the noise.

iirc this became so much of a problem with the 650D that quite a few people cut out the 200mm mesh.

I've heard that as well, the front mesh causing a pressure/turbulence problem? Tbh I've got so many 120s trying to keep my 580 quiet atm that I can't hear the 200s either way..
