Don't worry, I'll find where to buy it from if it fits into this budget :)

Requirements are that it's the best for the money, I gather they are all a much of a muchness, so decent build quality, keyboard, screen (do HP still do one with an 11.6" screen these days, similar to one OcUK used to sell), known good reliability etc.

Would I be able to get a dual core one with 2GB ram for this kind of money?

I've not looked into them for a while but it's birthday time so may as well buy one with any monies I receive.

Thanks all :)

I shall Googleth this :) Samsung is pretty much one of those brands you can't go wrong with I guess. Is that a recent model I assume also? :)

Save up £69 and bag a Lenovo Ideapad S205. AMD Fusion, widdles all over Atom netbooks, 11.6" screen. Comes with 2GB and a non-gimped Windows 7 (I.e. not Starter). IMO

I'll have a look into those, I'll hardly use the thing to be fair but worth knowing a bit about them, will investigate tomorrow :)

I quite like the look of the Asus 1015PEM, but haven't considered the amd options yet. I'm concerned about the (lack of) rma policy from Asus however.

Acer Aspire One D255 N550
Samsung N150

Both very similiar, infact I don't know what the differences are between them..

Also check out the AMD fusion netbooks, they are really quite impressive, they are a lot better than the atom based netbooks and they have HD screens/HDMI port ect

Agreed, i had the Acer for around 5 months, and it was well worth it.

Nifty little netbook, could have several opened documents in word and have skype in the background etc. Browsing on the screen was pretty decent and the battery life was great with around 6-7 hours with the 6-cell i had.

By all means i'd save up that extra and get a MSI U270 or the Lenovo the bloke above stated as the Fusion platforms have better performance and graphical capabilities than netbooks like the Acer D255.

Theres so many on the market it seems, all the bloomin' same. That Acer 522 looks nice, are any more manufacturers making similar spec for the same cash, around £250? Just a shame about the battery really.

Quite like the blue and black Samsung N150 as well, but I guess it'd be nice to get a more powerful unit for the cash so it "lasts" longer...

Wish it was like the olden days without so much choice! lol

EDIT: the Acer, sounds good for some video playback but poor for most other things performance wise... too many 50/50 reviews on that one I think. Predominantly it'll be used for the internet, maybe some youtube usage, HD aint essential aslong as it can play it semi high quality... I quite like the Samsung N150 dual core so will look into them a bit more I think.

I ended up ordering a Samsung N150Plus with the dual core Atom 550 CPU in the end, 6 cell battery etc otherwise general netbook spec.

Went for a nice blue/black combo, cost £218 delivered :)
