What do you guys recommend, mainly used for csgo.
Really like the look of the BenQ XL2536 but doubt it will drop sub £300 anytime soon

If you can wait until the summer - acer VG240YS, IPS, overclockable up to 165Hz, £180. Slated for delivery at the start of August.

If you need it now - asus VG248QG, 165Hz as well, but will be slightly faster than the above due to the TN panel (with worse colours). ~£230-280.

Have a look at the new Alienware AW2521HF
It is IPS 240Hz and even though it just came out it is below RRP at the moment, and is currently cheaper than it's predecessor it replaces.
A little bit above budget but might be worth stretching for.

Yeah that does look nice but about the same price as the zowie xl2536

Sub £300 I'm looking for sure

Can get the VG259Q for £257 which seems a very good price.
From what I've read its an improvement over the 24G2U?

Might as well get the VG259QM for another £12 and 280hz, although currently out of stock as well.

£90 more than the 24G2U is quite significant though and maybe not worth it for OP

Sooo tempting, was waiting for the VG259Q to come back into stock but its £70-£75 more expensive and unsure its worth the extra......

I have the AOC C24G2U and can definately recommend it. The picture quality is superb, im even considering getting a 2nd one when its back in stock.

You got anything yet? I'm in the same situation as you. Play CSGO so want to stick to a 24inch but i'm also tempted to just say bugger it and go to a 27inch. You can scale it down to replicate a 24inch or any other size you want so may aswell.
