Obviously a TN screen would be top of the list, but I'd also like to watch movies on my screen and I've found that my current 19" TN is very artifacty even over DVI. Would something like the Sammy 245B TN have this problem?

And what would be the best non-TN screen for gaming and how would it compare to a TN in terms of input lag and response time, both need to be v v low.

The OCUK 24" is a PVA panel and according to members it's an amzing steal.

Good performance and good reponse time.

It's also under 200 so it's good value also.

Christ on a bike I only just noticed that Dell E248WFP! Any ideas about that? A new addition, I don't think I saw it a few days ago when I last looked.

And the OCUK 24" is now only £10 less than the Sammy 245B as well :(

TN, so fine if you just want to game, not so fine if you want to do anything else (like watch movies) with it.

If you want to game, TN's aren't the only option any more, yes, they have slightly faster refresh rate - but we're talking a couple of ms tops compared to IPS or *VA.

Have a 245B myself, poor vertical viewing angle, if I lower my chair the top 2" darkens. Seems fine for gaming though which is primary use.

Hmmm, doing some research and now I'm concerned about getting a TN - I want the low input lag but the tradeoff is considerable.

Less than 30ms input lag is what I'm looking for, but at less than £300 please with a non TN panel. Any suggestions other than the OcUK value (as I already know it exists!)?

That monitor panel is MVA. Is that the same as PVA?

Nope, similar theory but different execution. MVA is meant to be slightly better from what most people say, and the latest crop of sammy S-PVA panels have horrendous input lag, probably to do with the extreme overdrive circuitry being used.

^^ same as mine. Awesome monitor for the cash. I read up for weeks before I bought mine and nothing came close spec-wise.

Too late, I bit the bullet and ordered the Digimate (OcUK Value) from a competitor for <£200 :) I seriously hope I get a VA panel  Even if I do get a TN though I can hardly complain as it was still ridiculously cheap (although I may have to return it if I get a glossy screen, despise those things!).

If your using it purely for PC gaming, the "glossy" TN panel (TN version of the OCUK PVA panel)...is far superior in tersm of image quality.

I don't care what anyone says on here, I've experienced both and the PVA version just appears washed out from an angle, even though its PVA.

TN is un-useable though from an angle due to inverted colours, just letting you know that PVA panel is nothing special at all.

I think I know the site you got it from and there have been reports, at least this was a couple of months ago, of them sending out both TN and PVA panels....

Then you had a faulty PVA panel, I had a TN and got a PVA replacement and it's much better.

Maybe you should try setting up your monitors, my PVA has better colours and even appears somewhat sharper.
