Hi all,

Ive got to get a new monitor to replace my old CRT styleeee.

Looking at 24" and first thought of Samsung 2493HM or T240 as we have a T220 in the office here and its superb.

Its gonna be used heavily for gaming so can everyone tell me which they reckon is the best?

Cheers

I've just picked up today a BenQ G2400W and I'm very impressed with it. That was coming from a samsung 22" 225BW screen that was about 2 years old and beginning to show it's age. The colours are a lot brighter and games look very nice on it.
Nice plain matt black bezel, its got tilt on the stand but no height adjustment or swivel either.
Wrt the viewing angles and the screen "washing out" when viewed from above or below normal inline position, well its no where near as bad as I expected (saying that, I'm probably used to it being a lot worse on my old screen) but it really is no big deal for me anyway.
I tried Crysis on it and it was a very pleasant experience, colours were a lot better, and there seemd to more detail on screen too, as if thngs/objects just were not there before.
Any more info needed I'll see if I can help you out.:)

T240 ***

The benq FP241W is better than the t240 and the other benq and the price shows it.

Im just about to order the Samsung T240, :D, i already have a hd tv(only 1440x900 though) i ordered 6 months ago but couldn't resist the t240 this week as its on offer :).

Its is in between but is stylish and has reasonably good spec's ATM for the price.

Well I have to say I'm very impressed with the Hyundai 24" PVA panel, no ghosting in COD4, no back light bleed and quite surprisingly no dead pixels. All in a very good panel, I know doubt the experts would pull it apart but its good enough for me. All I need now is to get it calibrated :D

Zenoxx, I'd go for the Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP. It's a bit expensive actually (approx £530), but I got it myself 2 weeks ago and really like it!
You can get cheaper monitor ofcourse - but if money is not a problem for you - go for 2407WFP and you will not be disapointed!

Im also looking at getting a 24" screen, been keen on the Dell for a while, but having read some of the issues people have been having, i may wait until they supply the revised version. Especially interested as they give you a 4 yrs warrenty direct with Dell.

never a dell, their input lag writes them off straight away.

be careful in persuing the 'best gaming' monitor. decent monitors are so close in the aspects that matter (INPUT LAG) that it doesnt really make a lot of difference. best to go for the monitor with the best image quality you can afford (that has a decently low input lag if your serious about gaming on it).

interestingly enough, the 24" DGM's have just about the lowest input lag ever seen on an LCD. typically around 1/4 that of the dell 2407/2408
