My choice was the Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP 24, it's arguably the best looking monitor out of the whole lot, it's definitely the best value compared with the rest.
Sure it's not the outright winner in performance but thats not to say its not a good performer because it's an awesome monitor, it's just that most of the 24in 1920 x 1200 panels are of such an high standard.
Overall the Dell wins hands down.

the only thing i am unsure about the dell is Response time / Brightness / Contrast Ratio : 16ms (black to white) or 6ms (grey to grey) / 450 cd/m2/ 1000:1
why is one response time 16ms and the other 6ms and which would be relevant to gaming

also for 150 squid more i can get the Dell ultrasharp 2707wfp lcd

For an explanation about the 2407 response times read this.

The 2707 has the same resolution as the 2407 - if you have extra to spend then you may as well get the 3007. :D

So if you want full HDMI/HDCP compatibility and still want to run your PC games at very good quality, then the BenQ FP241W 24 is the only choose right now?

The LG L245WP looks like a really nice screen, and as it's MVA not PVA it doesn't suffer the accute viewing angle issue (a minor issue really). Anything 8 ms and under should be quick enough for gaming btw.
