Just looking for some advice to get myself a new monitor for gaming. I don't really have a set budget but I want to keep it under 400.

It will be used along side my PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

It must have an aspect ratio of 16:9 / res of 1920x1080.

Not that fussed about 3D compatibility but that is always a plus.

Obviously HDMI ports are a good start.

Want something with vibrant colours and as lag free as possible.

Thanks :).

If you can lower your size requirement by an inch, I think you'll love the Samsung XL2370. If not, you could wait for the BX2450 to launch, which will be similar to the XL2370 but 24 inches. I have used countless panels and this gave the best gaming and movie experience with a very 'punchy' image, excellent responsiveness and nice vibrant colours - the brightness (we recorded 440cd/m2) really helped in this respect.

Hmmm, I think I may wait a little longer, I would like to get an LED monitor but they don't seem to be "that" good atm and still need some work, the only other monitor that looks any decent to me is the Dell U2311H (LCD) but I am worried about the 8ms response time for gaming. My ideal monitor would be an LED 23-24" with 120Hz& 3D capable, excellent blacks and colours, 16:9 with 1920x1080 res, HDMI/DVI ports and doesn't cost the earth. Doesn't seem to be any of that out there though lol :(.

Well OLED monitors will answer all of your prayers - but don't hold your breath for them ;). I understand your frustration. It always feels like you're compromising in some way.

True, but I have a feeling it will be another decade or so before they become mainstream. I might just give the Dell monitor a shot tbh.

I'v just purchased the Dell U2410 and it rocks. Ok payed nearly 500 pounds for it but the performance is second to none.

If it's gaming or HD multimedia it's the right choice

Are they both better than BenQG2420HDBL?

If the G2420 is a similar panel to the V2420 (and I'm very confident that it is), then yes. They are brighter with more vibrant colours and less dithering on dark colours. They are also slightly more responsive. Bare in mind that I haven't tested the G2420 or the PX2370 - but the former should be similar to the V2420 and the latter to the XL2370. ;)
