hey guys, pretty much as title really?? startin a little project to overclock the nackers off a XP mobile chip

anyone know what the best few steppings for each cpu are??

any idea what week and batch number??

i used to have an AQYHA 2500-m and that rocked :). 2.6 stable in a shuttle, would boot at 2.7 but restart when loading windows :(

Not sure of week or batch number but greater performance is acheived with higher FSB than MHz esp with mem running at 1:1 and tightest possible timings!

yeah i remember, got better results at 230x11.5 than i did at 200*13.

its just that the earlier IQYHA ones i believe had that little extra headroom than the later ones did

just wanna know which ones to look out for

A couple of the best steppings were the IQYHA 0352's and 0351's I have the 0352 in mine and it used to sit at 2.6Ghz nicely, with my tornado @ 2100rpm (nice and quiet). Now iv scaled back to 2.4ghz as my case is full of dust and my pc is crashing.

Too much porn on me HD has caused most the trouble :P

just picked a 2500-m up off egay.

stepping is IQYHA 0408RPMW

from the bit of readin it appears this is one of the better steppings i think lol

just to confirm, is it actually any good?

Yes it is one of the best steppings, although even these did vary a little bit with the earlier ones being better. When you put it in your Infinity put the L12 mod in with it as well. Although DFI's don't need it for a high fsb, if you boot at 200fsb from optimized defaults you will start off from a different ROM table which will keep things nice and stable when you move up towards 250fsb.

the only ones ive found lately are from cavemanoc and both of them are sold...?

Yep - sorry! :p If you have a look at Weescott's table you'll see that the IQYHA's seem to be marginally better than the AQYHA's. Takes a bit of playing but you will not be disappointed if you can find a good IQYHA - usually good to 2.7ish on air. (With a decent mobo/ram they still give great performance - not bad for a 4 year old chip!)

was planning on the L12 mod :). did it last time in my shuttle and went from a max fsb of 215 to 230. really helps quite a bit :)

so if these usually reach around 2.7 with a bit of tweaking on air, then under good water i may yet see my goal of 3ghz :) lol or at least 2.9ish

You might do if you get a good one (certainly should be able to get a good suicide shot at 3Ghz - stable is another story!)

Takes a bit of playing to find the right balance of FSB and multiplier, the joy of these is that you can ramp up the FSB for Superpi benchies, and go for high Clocks for other stuff. Lots of fun to be had.

If you really want to get the most out of it, see if you can track down an old Mach 1 (and NO - I'm definitely not selling mine ;) ) Only cost about £100ish now and will give you another 200ish Mhz for that uber-clocking goodness. :D

lol id love to, but for this project im experimenting with water cooling, may add a pelt at some point when i learn more about them. and then if i find a mach 1. go for that :)

Pelts are a very good half-way house - very easy to get setup and running - only real downer is the size of the psu you need (though you can pick up 400W switching PSU's off the net for about £40 which is perfect!)

Shout if you need any tips on 'em, if I don't know I can point you towards some guys that do ;)
