Hello!

I am looking for some advice as to the best 27" monitor for a mix of gaming and photo editing.

I hear lots about ASUS and Dell and am wondering if they are the best or if there are any alternatives.

Looking for IPS for the colour reproduction etc

Gaming would be Battlefield, Skyrim, TESO etc.

Many thanks!

There's nothing wrong with OCUK's DGM 27"display it's one of those Korean displays you may have heard about which use the same panel types as everyone else. I don't have a Digimate but I do have one of those Korean displays which I bought last December and its lovely no dead pixels, Display port, dual lnk dvi all for less then 250.

Edit
It looks like ocuk have stopped selling the display which is a shame.

I can recommend the Dell U2713HM (I have this monitor), excellent colour depth and just generally a great monitor. However, note that, at least for me, tearing is evident in games like BF4 if you don't enable v-sync but I think that's the case for most 27" IPS panels.

I have seen a lot of good things about the Dell. Just the pricepoint is high but then I guess you pay for quality.

The Dell is a quality monitor but there seem to be qc problems with these at the moment and almost most user reviews I've read mention problems with horrendous backlight bleed and image retention.

It does, in the end I've decided to go with the Asus PB278Q which seems to be a quality monitor and without as many qc issues.
I would have loved to have got the Dell though as it has better contrast ratio.

Good because the last time I tried to return something to the North they replaced it with a North Korean spy in a box.

Livewire, I'm like you, the Dell is the most attractive choice but I just can't justify something with that many issues being reported and if I do get unlucky the hassle of trying to return it.

Indeed! For that money, QC issues concern me.

Have decided to take a punt on the AOC Q2770PQU - turning up tomorrow!
