Hello am after changing my 939 setup for something faster.

I wont to go as cheap as pos for a half decent setup that i can clock the balls off

i have then psu and video card so its just the mobo/cpu/ram

i was thinking

Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLi nForce 650 £82.24 inc VAT
Intel Core 2 Duo E2140 £51.69 inc VAT
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400C4 £66.96 inc VAT

£200.89 inc VAT

what you guys think, ill just overclock it all as much as poss??

I dont mind paying more if its worth the extra performance gain etc etc

any other specs that would be better for the price lets hear

cheers

might be worth looking at a P35 motherboard which might clock better (unless you need/want SLI) and some Crucial Ballistix which is cheaper then the OCZ plus will overclock better.

Defo on the P35 - grab a C2D, just about any will do though the E6600 is generally considered the best, as for RAM, the Crucial is good, but if you want high speed stuff (as tight timings aren't much good on intel platforms), grab the OcUK cheapo PC8500 stuff. It's fast enough to allow FSB up to 510ish Mhz without even overclocking it! AND it's cheaper than most DDR800 memory!

also if you get a board with the 650i chipset you dont have to spend that much on your ram as the board allows you to run the ram unlinked

give it a few days mate you will get a cheaper chip on members market as the new ones are out you could get one that will deffo clock well

thanks for the help.

After some more thought ive come up with this

Gigabyte GA_P35_DS4 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £111.61 inc VAT

Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX (2x1GB) £70.49 inc VAT

Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.80GHz (800FSB) - Retail £72.84 inc VAT

Noctua NH-U12F (Socket LGA775/754/939/940/AM2) Heatsink

all comes to £300

hehe

motherboard looks mint and reviews are all really good.

what you think??

one more thing, would it be better to swap the memory for

OcUK 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Dual Channel Kit

??

its £7 more.

Would compatibility be ok?
