Best 32" high refresh monitor for 4090?

As per title, picked up a 4090 recently and feel like my LG 32GK850F getting on a bit now and not having G-sync isn't giving me the full benefit of the 4090.

I'm unsure whether to go 4k, as i'd like the 4090 to last the next 4-5 years, and the majority of my gaming is competitive shooters with the odd city builder/RTS thrown in, don't tend to play the more "cinematic" single player games which I think 4K would be more of a benefit, but am open to the idea of 4K.

Budget: Haven't shopped for a monitor for a long time, but not looking to blow the bank on the best of the best!

I get in first with the Alienware DWF OLED UW, stonking monitor for the price at under £800. 3 year service warranty including OLED burn.

Not sure if I want to go UW or curved tbh, I don't think my current desk layout would work with it but i'll have a measure tonight and see, it does look nice!

Alienware DWF OLED UW, looks like the F means it Freesync Pro, would I be looking for the G-Syn version?

No you don't need really need to buy the G-Sync version as Nvidia works just fine with Freesync, 32" 4k OLED'S are coming next year but they wont be cheap.

I personally wont be going back to LCD based screens.

Think at over £1000 it's a tad over what i'd like to spend sadly, if i'm honest I don't need an upgrade, but is a nice to have :cry:

@peahead, looking online, I can't seem to find definite clarification that Nvidia cards are compatible with FreeSync Premium Pro monitors?

EDIT: Upon doing some reading on how FreeSyn/G-Sync/Adaptive Sync works, it would seem that they don't even really matter and are only going to be a problem if FPS dips below the 40ish mark, is this correct?

You can get an open box with a full Samsung warranty for £659.40. Maybe worth a look.

Interesting!

Do Samsun monitors have the issue that Samsung TVs have, with the colours always being super over-saturated and bright? Like watching football and the grass is a bright neon green rather than subtle earthy green like they are in real life? Have always disliked Samsung TVs for this.

The QD-OLED on the Alienware is drawing me in at the moment however, for only £100 odd more.

That would do my eyes in, I don't like things too bright!
 
Pairing a £1500 GPU with a £400 monitor just doesn't feel right.

Given the monitor you've already got, for it to feel like an upgrade you'll need at least 4K resolution, 144hz+ and good HDR.

Is the Alienware DWF OLED UW with VESA DisplayHDR what you'd consider real HDR?

Yeah I do feel that, but part of my feels that 4K gaming at high refresh rates just isn't there yet, and with most of my gaming being Counter Strike 2, I feel like by the time GPUs are running everything at max settings at 144fps+, i'll be ready for a new monitor anyway.

My current gripe with my LG is that it just feels quite washed out most of the time, am I wrong to assume something like the Alienware would be a vast improvement over that? Basically I need you to talk me into or out of upgrading my monitor :cry: :p

OLED is easily the most substantial upgrade for gaming, barring an SSD. The picture is incredible but it's not without flaws such as text fringing, risk of burn-in, etc. At least you get the 3-year burn-in warranty with Dell.

Basically OLED is so much better than my old monitor that I ended up moving the PC and playing games from the couch while doing other tasks on the laptop

Is the Neo G7 "Mini LED" not proper OLED like the Alienware? Sorry for all the questions mate, seems like you're well in the know about monitors! :o

Thanks for the video, really interesting!

Think i'm leaning towards the Alienware still, the QD-OLED technology sounds superior, and the furture-proofing-ness of being 1440p instead of 2160p appeals.

I think by the time GPUs can run games at 144hz 4k solidly like they can at 1440p now, i'll be ready for a GPU and monitor upgrade anyway :)
