I currently have an LG 34UC98 which is fantastic, IPS, curved, Freesync, thunderbolt and ticks all my boxes.

However, I will be moving 4 hours down South. To London. I can't feasibly carry my monitor on the train and may as well leave it at my home, as I will come back every few months.

I need a new montior. My Macbook Pro will drive it. I may get another gaming PC too so Freesync/Gsync would be a bonus.

I was thinking of the Samsung CJ79?

I am a programmer and it will be my only panel, so I will be watching movies etc as well. Maybe some design elements so I would like to keep the colour accuracy really high.

yeah AMD, freesync, but may switch to gysnc in the future

budget reasonable up to 1K maybe more if its excellent but also hoping to get a cheap LG second hand would be nice

I'm a bit negative when it comes to the monitor side of things but I don't think the difference in price between an AW3418Dw and the 1k monitors is worth it. I think the upgrade in experience comes if you widen the court at 32:9 crg9 levels

The CRG9 was definitely one of the better monitors I experienced... and I went through A LOT, over a dozen different models. Unfortunately, I had other issues with it, namely flickering, some stuck pixels, but ultimately I found the resolution a bit work restrictive due to the lack of vertical pixels (coming from 4K). Overall though, the uniformity was good and I had no bleed... can't say that for ANY other VA or IPS monitor I've tried.

I'm done with LCD now though... it can do one. When LG's 48" OLED lands, I'm away.

Yeah I don't mind waiting. OLED monitors in general seem far away, let alone a 49" uper utlrawide.

After reviewing the CRG9 I think I definitely want one. Any idea how long it will be before they release the OLEDs!!

Isn't that just for flat panels? I don't see any 48" super ultrascreen curved monitors? Any idea on the price, hopefully around £1k

Yes, just flat, no curved OLED on the horizon as far as I'm aware. I expect it will be north of that at launch, closer to £1500 I reckon.
