Hey guys, Need a 420MM rad to go into the front of my Lian X2000, aka has to be 140mm x 3.

Any ideas of which is the best? Been looking at

420mm SR-1 HLabs
420mm GT Xtreme HLabs
420mm GChanger Phobya
420mm EK XTC Coolstream

Want to use low RPM fans, under 2000rpm. Will be cooling GTX 580/480 & 2600K, everything oced. Will be using either MCP655 or MCP355

I know this is referring to 360mm rads, but might be of some interest...

Different rads are better at different fan speeds. High fpi like the hw labs gtx come into their own at high rpm but at the cost of noise. Low fpi rads like the sr1 excel at very low rpm and are designed with silent running in mind. Rads like the thermochill pa series and the xspc rx's are great all rounders. I chose a sr1-420 and run my fans at 600rpm for near silence. Data from skinnee

Depends on the fans a bit.
These 3 fans all top out at about 1800rpm or there about (maybe a bit over).
Akasa Vipers:

CM BladeMaster:

Gentle Typhoon AP-15:

Personally I think 1400rpm is a bit loud and would prefer to aim for 1000rpm myself. I've got Vipers on my rads at the minute and try to keep them below 1400rpm.

I've just bought a second hand SR-1 360 off the MM though and hope to put some Gentle Tyhpoons on that.

(Does anyone know how to get YouTube videos to embed in the forums?)
EDIT: done the YouTube embedding, I hope!

If i aim for 1000rpm the GT Xtreme 420mm will be no good? as has 20fpi

As I understand it, no, it wouldn't be ideal.
That said I guess it also about the CFM of the fans and with high fpi rads, the static pressure of the fans. I believe that fan is based on Yate Loons and while they're good for the price, there are probably better fans that could give those results at lower rpms or at least lower noise.

At 1000rpm the sr1-420 is your best bet, i have this very rad and get excellent temps even at 600rpm. Another great 420 rad that you may want to look at is the thermochill pa140.3. Be clear what your goal with watercooling is silence or absolute performance regardless of noise and match the hardware accordingly.

Another reason to opt for a lower fpi 420 rad is that 140mm fans are not evolved as thier 120mm counterparts and there are not that many that are good at high static pressure (no 140mm scythe gt's or apaches), this is not an issue with lower fpi rads as you don't need as much pressure to push the air through the rad. You can overcome this very effectively by using low speed fans in push pull on a high fpi rad but you may not have the space needed to run such a configuration.

The 2600k is a pretty cool running cpu, my loop has happily had my i7 920 to 4.55ghz to give you an idea of this rads cooling ability. Have a look at my build, obviosly different case but a lot of the other components (d5 pump etc) are what you are looking at.

Thats a thing of beuty, you going to be my man to go too!!

Ive got quite a few parts that ive bought from members market and elsewhere, just dont know which ones to use. Anyhow im going to start another thread.

Thanks, got a little update to add to the log as i have removed a lot of the 45 degree rotaries. Hope that g skill ram serves you as well as it did me, i'll keep an eye out for your thread :)
