Best 5.1 Headset for pc ??

Only thing that springs to mind of an all in one solution, that can be used with consoles and PC, as long as it has an optical port, would be the Turtle Beach X41.

I don't think there is a device which will take optical from a console and output to 5.1 analogue, to which something like the Roccat Kave's, or analogue Medusa's can be connected. I don't know if Uriel was referring to the Turtle Beach DSS? Similar to the Astro Mixamp. Both use Dolby and output to stereo headphones.

Thanx all I have come to a conclusion because it will cose £!00 for a converter what headset would you suggest for pc and xbox ?? thanx

Sharkoon have an X-Tatic control unit thing, which takes optical and outputs to 5.1 analogue. £50 or so, I think it is. Might be the cheapest option. At least you can use the Medusa's with the PC as they are.

hi all

I have got the roccat kave's and there going back!!

the 3 pad on the top of the head band are crap!! not enough suport and with the head set been on the heavy side after2 hours of gaming my head's kill and i have a big dint for the pads on the top of my head!

sound is very good but can not put up with the pain lol so there going back! thay should do a recall on them as there POOOOOOOOO

Never found my kave heavy at all, I have a large body though so my neck is on the large side.

Only problem is the bass vibration is nice for a while but gets tiring after long periods.

Don't buy into 5.1 headsets, they are inferior to stereo headphones with emulation, massively so!

So, in your opinion which are the best surround headphones to buy?
And, at the moment I am currently using a real 5.1 speaker setup, will the headphones ever be as good as the "real thing" or should I stick to my speakers?

I had the roccat kaves and the sound quality was good with onbaord sound (when they worked) but positionally Dolby Headphone on my Xonar DG with the Razar Carchairias headphones is far superior

There is technology that is apparently much better than anything that is currently available, for the majority at least. It's expensive, very expensive. A few grand, I believe. Until such technology is affordable, I think 5.1 speakers will always be better. Whether or not this technology can match 5.1 speakers, I can't say, don't know enough about it, but it's certainly said to be far superior than what is available to the masses at the moment. Whether that be multi driver headphones, or stereo headphones and virtual surround sound.
