Best 55" tv for under £850

Hi guys,
I've just moved into my first house, I have space for a 55" tv and wondered what to get?

I'm not to clued up on all the features, I know I should go for LED back lit , im not fussed about 3D or 4K. It will mainly be used for playing xbox one and watching Blu ray movies, I don't watch football or anything.

I always prefer John Lewis, as you get a John lewis 5 year warranty and they are great with their service should you need to swap it / something goes wrong.

edit: And John Lewis is a lot cheaper it seems with a free TV stand you can eBay. Job done.

+1 for the 50/55 W8 from John Lewis. I've got the 50" and it's superb.

Thanks, are they the same tv? The more expensive one has more numbers in the model no. I thought it was a better one?

Nope. They are the same TV, just identified differently on the websites.

DONT use John Lewis,
i ordered for delivery this saturday online and it all went through and they took my money etc. they then send me a text the next day saying its coming on the 16th of march! So I call them and a lady says I can collect it in store and to ring back tomorrow to arrange, I've just done that only to be told I can't collect in store at all. shabby service. Order cancelled. Looks like I'll be going elsewhere. So disappointed in them as I've heard good things. Guy on the phone didn't seem to care at all either.

Sounds like you've just had a bad one off experience, they are generally very good. In fact it probably would have been worth leaving your order open and making a complaint, as they're normally very responsive to that.
