I'm looking for a new psu to power the rig in sig (replacing the 8800 with a 260-216), I had originally thought about the corsair 620W but since the price jump a few weeks ago to over a ton I'm not so keen. So what other contendors are there to consider?

only need a 500w psu for a single card & oc'ed quad

Enermax MODU 82+ 525w would be perfect - around £75inc
The 625w version is also a avaliable for not much more (and in more places)

I have an ocz 520w PSU at the moment but the 12v rails are week and it only has a single pcie connector which is not a problem as I could use an adapter although I'm not keen on them.

I seem to buy a new PSU each year not because my current one fails but because it fails to supply enough power for a new rig so for once I thought I would get something which will easily cover me.

i have a ocz stealtxtreme 600w and its coping for now but i need a bigger psu as when i overclock my Q6600 it seems to crash and freeze and thats only at 3.0 or 3.2

The Corsair 620W was what I was going to recommend, just fit n forget...... iirc I paid £90 for mine last year.

This looks about right:

but i have not personally used an ocz psu, so see what others say.

they suck big time. see here.

Fantastic psu's. Quiet and super efficient. What more could you want?

I would not recommend the Corsairs any longer. They were overpriced before and now they are just stupidly priced. Too many failures lately too.

Not much 520W rated OCZs but Mod/PowerStreams were old junks already three years ago.

Revised GTX260 is about same as G80 based 8800GTS

Of course that kind overclocked behavior can never be because of wrong settings or CPU/motherboard/memory being unable to cope with it...

I'm using an Enermax Modu82+ 625W (got it for £83) and it's a great PSU for the price. Rock solid and extremely quiet/silent.

Seasonic m series are brilliant, had mine for years. not sure if newer models come with latest 8pin pcie graphics connectors, may need to use molex adapters. Corsair PSU 750w and below are made by seasonic ;) and seasonic are better quality imo (cabling etc...). otherwise enermax mentionned is also very good, as well as Zalman HP series

Cheers for the responses guys!

Ocuk don't seem to have much in the way of enermax psu's these days so I think they are out (have gift vouchers to spend) and I'm a bit concerned by comments about the zalmans having lots of cables already attached as my antec 900 doesn't make hiding cables the easyest task.

So any other options, tough power any good?

My Zalman only has the main 20/24 pin, 8/4 pin and a pci-e cable hard wired. Everything else is modular. Let's face it. You are going to use those cables anyway so what's the problem?

I don't have a problem with the obviously required cables but from comments I had read there were far more than this attached which in a case such as the 900 isn't good

I have just checked for you and the Zalman ZM 500/600/750HP psu's only have a single pci-e, 8/4 pin cpu and 20/24pin plugs hard wired. Everything else is modular. The 850/1000w versions have an additional pci-e plug, single lead with 3x molex and a single lead with 2x sata hardwired. If you were going for a psu that size then you would be using those anyway.

The 500/600/750w versions are exactly as i told you above. I also actually have one and checked for you last night before i posted.
