So,
SG05 case and Gigabyte Z77n mobo on order from OCUK.

Thinking about gpu.
I've heard that the Sapphire 7850 on offer right now is about the quietest and consumes the lowest power of all the 7850's on the list?
Anyone know if that's true?
Either way, which 7850 would YOU put into this case?
May well order today as the Sapphire and HIS ones are on offer right now.

Cheers

SG05 user here and I have the MSI HD7850 Power Edition. Lovely and quiet, very overclockable, plenty of power for gaming at 1920x1200.

Thanks Tute. Also what cpu are you using in the SG05 and how are you cooling it?

edit: just ordered it! :)

YEah, the Sapphire one is there, but its dearer and runs a 860Mhz stock. However it 'claims' to be really quiet and low power.

But......choice made, pennies paid! :)

edit: ooooh.....not more than 2 mins ago i just recieved my SG05 from the courier......niiiiice!

I have the power edition in the SG05, and its great, but just get the one on today only, thats a steal!

Other than some nice PCB lights, and a very mild underclock (950 on power vs 900) I think the cards are the same.

ah, ok thanks.
I've got 2 SSD's to put in there, but on first glance i couldn't see how they go in. I 'was' using a 3.5" SSD bracket that holds 2 SSDs, but the holes don't line up with the case chassis.
Maybe i need to look more closely at it.
Also want to use a slimline optical drive.

Well from what I can see, one will go under the optical drive, and you can also use double sided sticky pads to attach one to the floor in front of the motherboard.

I'm also wanting to get the MSI Frozr 7850 today, but waiting to get my Gigabyte version of this card RMA'd. I'm a bit sceptical of the 7850 now.
Is anyone willing to vouch for this card? Anyone willing to thrown rotten food at it?

I just took mine out of the box, plugged it in, booted it up, set the core clock to 1050MHz (the highest it'll go in CCC) and left it at that. I could undoubtedly get more but that'll do for now. :)

Well....pretty wounded. The NT06 won't fit in the case WITH the MSI 7850 (using Gigabyte Z77n-wifie board), so i'm using the stock HSF on my ivy. Still the cpu is running at 3.9Ghz at a stable 39°C.

But, now its built.......time to update my sig.

If you got mini-itx case which is not big enough to fit a big heatsink type CPU cooler, then the all-in-one water cooler is probably your next best option to go with...provided you got 120mm fan mount for instaling the rad.

actually, i'll not be clocking the socks off it, so the stock cooler will do fine.
I just wanted to use the nt06 passively to minimise noise.
Still, it's fairly quiet as it is.
I use the H80's on all my other hi-spec rigs though.

Yea...Ivy doesn't get too hot, if you are not upping voltage for overclocking, so even a "lowly" stock cooler would handle most stock voltage overclocking these days (which is probably good considering the money saved without needing to get a 3rd party cooler :p)
