Best 8800 GTX aftermarket air cooler?

Ah, there must be a mistake on OcUK's info listing for the Thermalright HR-03-PLUS (8800 GTX) VGA Cooler. It says it has 4 innovative designed heat pipes.

This aint true, the Thermalright HR-03-PLUS (8800 GTX) VGA Cooler should have 6 innovative designed heat pipes.

Whats the story?

Is there a solution that will fit a DS3P with NH-U12F and with PCI cards installed? That's my holy grail.
Got my GTX fitted with a HR-03 Plus on a P35 DS3P.

The cpu cooler is a Ultra 120 Extreme and i have a soundblaster live! 24 in the uppermost PCI slot.

You could get another small pci card in just but you might have to use a thinner fan on the cooler to guarantee some kind of airflow.

Looks good! whats the best fan to use with these then? i was hoping to use a Panaflo H1A 92mm with it but OcUK don't seem to stock em anymore. I do have the old spec Panaflo 1A 92mm which i salvaged from my old blown power supply. i'm toying with the idea of just using this but i'm not sure as it only has + & - wires.

Did you get your Thermalright HR-03-PLUS (8800 GTX) VGA Cooler from here? Obviously if you did then it deffo is a typo in the description. What if anything are you using to control the fan speed?

I did get mine from OCUK so can confirm that it is a typo. The Plus is a very different beast made purely for the demands of 8800 cards.

The pack comes with all the heatsinks you'll need, the clips for attatching a 92mm fan, decent install instructions and finally a large syringe full of thermal paste.

As for the fan i use a Xilence Redwing. Not the most airflow in the world but very very quiet. It's more than adequate as the cooler is so good.

I have the card clocked from 575/1000 to 645/1025 and under full load it stays at around 60c. With the original cooler on i saw temps tip over 80c at stock!

Thanks gt_junkie, but I'm afraid I use an x-fi and a dvb-t card, making things that little bit too tight it seems.

I've just added a 120mm fan loose in the case, that's dropped idle temps from 80->70'C...I may be able to progress without spending money and invalidating my warranty :D

edit: further tweakage has got me down to 55'C

Okeys just bought one of these Thermalright HR-03-PLUS (8800 GTX) + a 92mm Xilence Redwing fan for £49.97 inc p&p

Read loads of reviews on both items. Both spot on..

I have some AS5 here, am i better off using that for the core?

Nice one!

Believe me... you won't be dissappointed! ;)

As for the compound i would say use either. My temps are good TBH and i have heard a lot of reviews to back up my belief that the stock thermalright paste is more than acceptable. It's also super easy to spread too!

Enjoy it mate! :)

Yep you won't be dissappointed with this beast,

My temps went from:

68 idle to 53 Idle
80 Load to 61 Load.

Very good and I used Zalman Super Grease. Really easy to apply, you just have to paint it on.

AS5 should be do a fine job though.
