Best Ad Blocker

Which is the best ad blocker to use inter ad's are driving me mad nothing really seems to stop them now...

AdblockPlus in Firefox still works almost perfectly well for me. I only see a couple of ads a week, and I'm a heavy surfer. Perhaps you can supplement it with additions to your hosts file.

The fabled Admuncher is the greatest adblocker bar none. Anybody who relies on Adblockplus should try and and see what they're missing. That said, it's payware though it can be picked up free via trialpay.

I take it it doesn't work under Win 7? I double clicked the .exe and it did nothing.

With the hosts file if you have this

127.0.0.1 ad.doubleclick.net

The 127.0.0.1 is the location of your computer, so when the entry (example) "ad.doubleclick.net" is requested your computer thinks 127.0.0.1 is the location of the file. When this file is not located it skips onto the next file and thus the ad server is blocked from loading the banner, Cookie, or some unscrupulous ActiveX, or javascript file.

Does this mean that say, on my mates machine. I can have something like, would it go to zzzz.com, everytime he goes to google.com or does it work the other way around?

I don't see any ads in firefox with adlbock plus + easylist..

Depends what sites you go to. My dad has never had any problems and i think he still uses IE5 and no ad blocker. If your average sites are paypal and ebay then you should be good. If you search for cracks or freshteens all the time then yes, you probably need some good add blocker and virus protection

As above, hardly ever see any ads, just the odd partypoker.

do you knopw where I can buy it from and do i hav to renew the licence every year?
