Best additive for WC loop???

I've managed to get my hands on some distilled water for my first attempt at water cooling, but would like the forums recommendations on the use of additives and silver Kill coils

Are they really necessary and which are best?
 
get the silver coil, saves running out and most people just use petra nuke on top of the coil any way
 
Just using kill coil in my two loops with no problems for the last 10 months.
You can use PT nuke but that's not required.
 
I've seen the PT nuke, and also the PHN version for a few pence more. Which should I go for do you think.

Also looking at which thermal compound to go for on the CPU. Previously just used whatever came bundled with the airheatsink.

thinking either Arctic cooling MX3 or MX2 or the arctic silver 5, but open to suggestions
 
well i have just set my first loop up and after much reading i came to the conclusion that no additives are needed.just deionised or distilled water with a silver coil.additives over time just gunk up the loop.as for which thermal compound,i have use3d mx-3 and arctic silver 5 and found that mx-3 is a few degrees cooler than the as5
 
I used deionised water, Petra Nuke the 'concentrated' version and a silver coil in my previous loop. Currently using deionised water and just a silver coil. The water is running crystal clear.

Stay away from coolants. GIANT waste of money, but you knew that already.;)

MX3 works for me. This time I tried the straight bead down the centre of my i7 cpu and pleased to see that its just as effective as the all over method of application.

Using De-ionised water and Primochill liquid utopia in my loop. With regards to tim, i use MX-2 because i am a tight git and it's not far behind MX-3 in performance while costing half the price.
 
im going with kill coil and phn petra nuke for distilled water (which i have) , hopefully will keep the critters out!
 
dont bother with pnuke it can cause some clear tubing to cloud. Just de* water and a silver kill coil
 
The water in south wales is soft, so lime scale would not be a big problem.

As for vectisitch, the water in Kent is very hard, so lime scale would be a big problem.

Where ever you are in the UK, I think you are taking a big chance by using tap water.
I would stick with distilled, its on 60 pence a litre & gives piece of mind
