Hi all,

I've got an SK43G here with some sort of geforce MX installed. I'd like to know if anyone's had success with a more potent graphics card on such a weak, 200W PSU.

The current config:
Sempron 2600 (1.83GHz)
2x 512MB DDR
1x SATA (5400rpm)
1x DVD burner
The usual 80mm case fan plus a few 40mm fans on the chipset.

I'd like to try something like an X800 or 6600GT but conventional wisdom recommends a 300W PSU. The current one has a mere 10A on the 12V line.

i had a sempron 2600 @ 2.2ghz, 1536mb ddr, one SATA hdd and dvd burner, running with a 9600xt all running off a generic 250w psu (which itself had been in almost constnt use for 8 years)

I've got a HD3450 here that has been happily running on a very very old 250W power supply - I wouldn't have thought it was using over 200W

Something like an X800 XT PE would be fine, could probably use one of the newer HD3x ATI cards as well.

I had an X1950 in a socket 478 shuttle.

The shuttle PSU's are low wattage, but have strong voltage rails, it should be fine.

PC's don't consume as much power as people think. The rig in my siggy only pulls a max of 274w at the wall and even then only by running Prime and Fur stability test at the same time.

Something like a ATI 3450/3550/3650/3670 would be good.

had a p4 3ghz, 2 drives, 1 dvdrw, 1gb ram, fans, cathodes and a x800xt running fine on the 220w psu, the only issue you'll have is finding something quiet whilst still keeping it single slotted.

Thanks guys. I've put some heavy stuff in shuttles before but I was a little concerned about this only having ten amps available on the 12V line. A mate's offered me a 6600GT so I might as well chuck it in and see what happens eh? :)

i,ve a water cooled shuttle p4 2.4 @ 3.5
6800 gt @ unlocked and ultra speeds
2x 512 ram
Raptor X
RWDVD drive
12v pump
x2 120mm fans

all of my shuttle silent x 250 psu

still going after 4 ish years
