Best AGP :( Card?

Which is the better card

HIS ATI Radeon X1950 Pro ICEQ3 V2 Turbo 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (AGP) -

256 ram but 620 MHz

or

Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (AGP)

512 ram but 580MHz.

but what about OC the faster (620) core past what the 580 core can do but limit it to 256 ram?

Where does it stop ?.

You can always get more speed for any Core but you cannot get more Memory if none fitted to PCB.

yep OK, but what is the limiting factor for outright performance.

I like to play games. COD4, Supreme Commander, ETQW etc.

Is overall speed better or ram. Does the difference between 580 and 620 is only 7% but is a 200% increase in ram more that a 40mhz (7%) increase in core speed?

I tend to think that what you are telling me is correct but just want to absolutely sure.

Oh and BTW thks for the advice and help fpr which I am grateful, so difficult to keep up with hardware these days.

Todays games at a decent RES need more Memory, 512MB is about right today.

Hi,

I cant speak for the other games but on my system (P4 @3.5ghz, 2GB RAM, ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB) COD4 runs fine at 1280x1024 with high settings.

just don't expect that sapphire to overclock - they suck for that. you still made the right choice though.
