I offered to sort a work colleague's PC out, basically his daughter is trying to play Rainbow 6 Vegas with a FX5200:o

All it needs is a PS 3.0 capable card as far as I can tell, but I noticed there's a Liteon 250W in there. X1950Pro would be too power hungry I'm guessing? but what about an X1550XT or a 7600GT? Any better suggestions? Thanks.

The most important bit is the amperage supplied by the power supply.

I've heard of some people running 8800GTS cards on 250W SFF PSUs without too many problems, so go figure.

IF the PSU is high quality (as in has at least 25A on the 12V rail) you should be able to plumb in something like a 7800GTX without any problem. You should be able to get away with a 1650xt... but again, it depends entirely on your friend's PSU and how good it is...

actually, the 12V rail will be limited to 20A; it's merely a question of how many rails the PSU has...

i.e. 250W / 12V = 21A...
