Best AGP upgrade?

What do you reckon the best AGP card upgrade is? ATi or Nvidia, I'm not fussy.

I'm not interested in any "upgrade your whole system to PCI-E" answers, just AGP please I'm playing FEAR, Far Cry and CS:S just now, and am away to get started on BF2, and thus want to boost my meagre graphics. I lost track of the graphics card heirarchy some time ago, and need some constructive advice at the up-to-£200 mark

Current system is:

Biostar iDeq 210a
3GHz P4 w/ HT
1GB PC4000
Radeon 9700Pro
2*250GB HDD's
Acer AL1916W 19" WS TFT

I think it's down to these 2 cards, since you're asking about the "best" AGP...

For Nvidia - the 7800GS
For ATI - the X850XT

I believe the 7800GS is slightly better than the ATI.

Considering the prices you pay for these AGP cards, the 7800GT PCI-E slaughters the 7800GS and can be had for cheaper.

At stock, the 7800GS is a little slower than the X850XTPE as it is clocked slowly and only has 16 pipes

If you get the XFX Extreme Edition though this is clocked at 440/1300 (stock is 370/1200)

This is faster than the X850XTPE and it supports all of the latest features like Shader Model 3

The best card, money no object on AGP would be the Gainward BLISS GeForce 7800 GS+ SILENT 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-032-GW). This has the 7900GT core so it's very quick, but it's also very expensive (£350). The Gainward BLISS GeForce 7800 GS SILENT 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-030-GW) has the 7800GT core and it is worth considering for an extra £40 over the 7800GS EE
