This is so true. Every new horror film wants to create its own 'freddy' etc but insist on having some ugly green shiny cgi monster, and any tension that is built up until the revealing is completely shattered. Its happened in so many films where 'something' is out there but you dont know what or where, then they show you and its like 'Oh there it is. Looks a bit manky..... Why is it still standing there showing off its special effects? Ah looks a bit crap now'.
CGI is a lot better now but imagination still trumps it for the most part in this genre.
Rather than getting a brief glimpse like you did in the old days as it killed someone in some horrific way in a flash of dramatic music before disapearing into the darkness again. Leaving you with brown underwear and dreading the next moment the bugger appeared again.
