I've been taking MyProtein Hurricane XS for the last 6 months or so, noticed a small gain at first but don't seem to be getting anything from it anymore.

I take 2 a day, 1 when I wake up and 1 post workout.

I've recently been looking into the Maximuscle Cyclone, I always thought it was a bit of a gimmick but I've seen mates get good gains of it. From looking at their site it seems they have 10g of creatine over the 5g in Hurricane XS, and the addition of glutamine as well.

Are there any others that I should be looking at? The Cyclone works out at over double the price but I'm curious to give it a go.

Thanks.

It's not the supplement mate, you can spend all the money in the world but something else is obviously missing

Are you getting enough protein from other sources? What's the rest of your diet like?

Are you overtraining/not training enough?

I hate to sound patronising mate as I'm sure you know what you're doing but I don't think this is the fault of the supplement

2 shakes a day is nothing in terms of kcal is it?

You grow from eating more, lots more. What's the rest of your diet like and whats your routine?

Yeah I know it's not a case of drinking a couple of shakes and getting huge. :)

I don't think my diet is too bad, here's what I had yesterday for example:

200ml semi-skimmed milk
2 scoops of Hurricane XS
1 bagel and nuttella
250ml orange juice
Banana
Tin of tuna
Jacket Potato
Pack of brazil nuts
250g chips
2 Peppered beef steaks
2 garlic bread
Tomato, cucumber and lettuce salad
200ml semi-skimmed milk
2 scoops of Hurricane XS
1 bagel and nuttella

I normally take in 3500-400 calories per day and 150-200g protein but I never seem to gain weight.

Routine is as follows (4 day split)

Workout 1
Flat Bench Press
Incline Dumbbell Bench
Incline Flies
Dumbbell Pullover
Push Ups

Workout 2
Barbell Squats
Dumbbell Lunges
Calf Raises
leg extensions
leg raise
Weighted Crunch

Workout 3
One arm Dumbbell hammer Curls
Bench Dips
Barbell Bicep Curl
Close Grip Bench Press
Dumbell Extensions
Dumbbell Kickback

Workout 4
Dead lifts
Bent over one arm Dumbbell rows
Pull-ups
Military Press
Dumbbell Raise (forward/side alternate)
Shrugs

Any advice / suggestions appreciated.

PhD Synergy ISO 7; not cheap but i would rate the best all in one product. I have been using this almost 2 years solid along side PhD pharma Whey. Not cheap but slightly cheaper than maximuscle Cylone.

I would but I just don't have the time especially in the mornings to stand around making shakes although I agree this is probably the best method and most cost effective.

Thanks, i'll take a look. :)

Then make it in bulk. It's not hard to mix a big lot of protein, carbs, creatine etc then scoop it as you want it :)

If you are eating 4000kcal a day and not growing then you need to eat more.
How many kcal do you need to have to grow? Have you tried a decen online calculator?

.

Thats not 3500-4000 calories. It's around 3000-3200.

I dunno, garlic bread could be small or huge. Steaks could be massive.
While most people over estimate their intake you can't out right say how many kcals someone is having without all the detail.

He could have a shed load of sauce or mayo with his steak or something.

Maybe so, it just seems likely with so many people (including me) thinking they eat way more than they do. 800 calories of mayo would be just down right impressive :D

Best all in one is reflex one stop xtreme.

But honestly food is more important, and not to mention more enjoyable than a shake.

That lot came to 3783 calories plus there were a few small extras, bag of crisps, apple etc. Slightly geeky but I've been logging everything down in a spreadsheet for the last week or so to give me a proper idea of how much I'm taking in.

I've looked at a couple of online calculators and it seems that at even 3500 calories a day I should be gaining weight fairly easily (desk job).

Has those calculators taken into account your exercise? The kcal burned could be what's stopping you gaining.

I grabbed a tub of the USN muscle fuel today as there's a shop which sells it locally and I didn't want to wait another day or so for the Reflex. Reflex seems pretty pricey but if I bought that I wouldn't have to buy my vitamins and BCAA's separate so probably works out about the same really.

Will try that next time anyway, do you have 1 or 2 shakes a day?

Usually two, as for the reflex being pricey, well seeing as 4kg of usn gives you 26 servings, whilst reflex 4.35kg bag gives you 30. Also i can get two bags of osx for £90 from echo supplements.

So price wise usn is actually a good bit pricier. Plus i've run both and much prefer the osx, reflex state not only what but how much is in it, usn use a 'proprietary blend' so you have no idea how much is actually in it.
