+1 for the Zalman.

I have just installed the ZM850-HP in my rig.
Power to spare, efficient and quiet to boot.

So maybe even mighty 350W peak draw...
Corsair HX520 would be enough.
But if you want overshooting PSU Seasonic M12D has high efficiency down to really low loads and always fully Japanese capacitors instead of various "standard grab bag" selections of Zalmans.

PC P&C 750W Silencer, review here
This leaves one last thing to consider with this unit, the “Silencer” portion. To be blunt it isn't silent or even very quiet.

Even Seasonic can't make 80mm fan less noisier than it is.

the main reason i said 650-1000w is that i dont really want to be looking at a new psu if and when i change my setup

thats fair enough, but it just shows how not all reviews can be trusted, lol
the one I linked had these comparisons on earlier page

+1 Zalman, best quality and most silent PSU i have ever owned.

LOL, how can something be 'most silent'?! It's either silent or not. If it makes a noise, it's not silent. There are NO silent PSUs between 650w - 1KW as none of them are fanless. You need fanless if you want silent, and they top out at about 450watts.

One PSU can be "closer" to silent than another. I think we all know what he was getting at, no need to try and be clever about it.

+1 for Zalmans

Corsair TX 750W
Made by CWT...
The difference between the TX650W and the TX750W is big, however. The latter is average in terms of noisiness...

Also even one PC magazine with often not so seriously taken reviews found it noisy.

Which are as useful as half deaf listening for car's engine noises... (probably in artillery shooting range)
...our meter only registers noise levels above 40 decibels... ...inaudible to our sound level meter...
Neither can any meter really record how annoying some noise sounds to human hearing. And that's where small 80mm fan always looses especially when it's expected to actually move some air.

That high speed 80mm fan does not scale down well; its sound signature at idle is not particularly benign. In a quiet room (installed in an otherwise quiet PC), it will be easily heard, and many listeners will hear it as being at least mildly annoying, due to the complex mix of tonal sounds.

Another vote for the Zalmans here. Mine is from personal experience too. Never heard it at all. The heatpipe means that the fan runs very slowly. Easily the quietest and best psu i have ever owned. The new Enermax Modu/Pro 82+ psu's are also very quiet. Again, personal experience as i have a Pro 82+ 385w in my second rig. Don't think they go above 625w though.
