Best AMD CPU for £200?

I would get this CPU:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/amd-...hz-socket-am3-processor-retail-cp-39p-am.html

I would get a decent cooler and overclock it a bit. The FX8350 and FX8370 are the same CPUs but running at a higher TDP and higher clockspeeds.

I would not spend too much on AM3+ with Ryzen being released in the earlier part of next year and the preview of the ES seems to indicate Haswell/Broadwell level IPC.

I'd do what CAT-THE-FIFTH suggests and get the FX-8300, it's going to be amazing value if you overclock it to 4.2ghz+.

The best one for £200 is undoubtedly the FX9590 but it's factory overclocked and you need a top end motherboard and cooling imo.

The FX8300,FX8320,FX8350 and FX8370 are all the same chip with unlocked multipliers.

The FX9000 series are very leaky parts which failed validation for the FX8300 series, but as a result can take massive voltages so they could hit high clockspeeds - they need higher end motherboards.

Seriously I would just get the FX8300 and a decent cooler and overclock it a bit.

It has a 95W TDP unlike the FX8350 and FX8370 which are basically the same chip but overvolted to run at the higher clockspeeds as seen by their 125W TDP.

If you really don't want to overclock then an FX8350 with the Wraith cooler is £150,but that is £60 more than the FX8300 and that is money you can spend on a decent cooler.

Okay thank you all for your input! I have just ordered the FX8300, i already have watercooling for my cpu and 4 fans so ill see what temps i get before i poke around with overclocking.

Thank you all!
