Anyone recommend me an AMD set-up for gaming. Will it play the latest games and into the future. I originally planned going with an intel system, but due to budget im having to rethink.

Thanks in advance.

Can you give us a budget for Mobo and CPU?

Intel really does completely demolish AMD at the moment, so we might actually be able to spec you a better low-end Intel system that is still better by some way than the equivalent AMD.

Bulldozer was a complete flop, however Piledriver 'may' (unlikely) build on it, and therefore it'd probably be worth getting an AM3+ Motherboard.

Ideally I'd say maybe AM3+ alongside a 955BE or a 1090T (I think).

My AMD knowledge isn't great, but I think that's about right..

My budget is around 450 - 500 for the whole system, I want to be able to play the latest games with out problems, and into the future also.
Dont need monitor keyboard or mouse no. Just the system.

well, if you only have 450-500 for the whole thing, you ain't gonna get much that'll play the latest game .. sorry !

Just a start.

The 460 is no absolute high-end card but you will play pretty smoothly on most recent games as long as you don't set everything to full or whatever. It's tough to put in a high-end card when you also want a future-proof rig, which is fine, but it means I had to spec in a mobo capable of 8x/8x SLI, for when you want to get another gtx 460.

The PSU *should* be able to power everything (including the second 460 whenever you get it).

And obviously you can't have a high-end CPU either. The i3-2100 is a capable dual-core, though. If you ever get the chance (and the dosh) you should consider getting an i5 2500k.

Oh yeah, total of £501.91 - £516.91 with shipping

Have you thought of looking for a second hand system?
Then upgrade it as money becomes available.

the 1055t actually works very well, as for ram, kingston hyperx genesis grey. works very well, and one of the lowest fail rates out of ALL ram. i would shy away from the gigabyte boards, maybe look at the asus m5 series.

as for the hard drives, it might be an idea to save a little more, throw in a crucial m4 ssd as the boot drive with a 500gb-1tb for the rest, faster load times etc, trust me you WILL notice when online gaming....

oh and power supplies, xfx if you can afford it, better built than ocz...
