Er wrong forum I'm afraid. General Discussion doesn't normally extend to recommendations for antivirus apps.
Nod32 and Kaspersky seem to be the most popular AVs in use by OcUKers. I personally use nod32. It is or can be made to be an extremely silent AV. I get no popups or messages from nod32 unless I visit a dodgy site that wants me to download some dodgy code. And that hasn't happened for months now.
Nod32 is also extremely silent vis a vis updates. I've set nod32 to not tell me about updates so I have to manually check that it is updating itself. And it does without any notification. A brilliant bit of software, one of the best I've ever used whether it be paid for or free.
If you want a free AV then look at Avast (a paid for version also exists if you are interested) and AVG are good bets for free AVs.
Perhaps a passing mod could move this to its rightful place.
