best app developing thing?

Looking at having a bash at some phone apps anyone tried
phonegap or appcelorator? At the moment I'm just looking to play but eventually I'm wanting to be able to tap in to the gps of the phone and camera.

I've had a fair amount of success using Sencha Touch in combination with PhoneGap. Sencha is a bit of a learning curve but makes it easy to create mobile layouts.
