Best approach back into MacOS?

It won't run as fast as a Mac Mini as it'll throttle to base clock most of the time.

Hadn’t thought of throttling issues tbh!

Well the Mac mini is higher specced when it comes to cooling. No idea why you'd constrain yourself to such a small chassis if you don't need portability.

Might be worth waiting for the next gen of MBP's which are due to come out in 2020.

I use one and love it. Quiet; small and powerful enough for day to day computing. I did a DIY Ram upgrade and it was simple enough.

The one thing it is not great with is sleeping and detecting monitors. Probably the only area I have had issues with.
