I currently have about 3tb data with 4tb total HDD space.

my question is what would people say is the best backup solution for it. all of my important data is backed up on DVDs and online, the rest isnt very important i would just be annoyed if i lost some of it. most of the unimportant things are video files that i can rip again if i need to.

at the moment i have some data on DVDs and some duplicates on other HDDs.

For that kind of storage capacity the big cost will be in the tape unit. At work we use an LTO3 eight cartridge one tape unit to backup about 2TB of storage. The jukebox unit cost about £2,000 though and each cartridge is about £20 for 400GB capacity. I'm sure nowadays you can get the tape drives a lot cheaper as LTO4 has now been unleashed with a native 800GB capacity so that will decrease the LTO3 costs.

Of course these are SCSI so you would need a SCSI card as well.
