Hi

I need a good peice of software which can back up my 2 windows 7 machines to a server on the same segment of the network on a 1gbps link. These will be stored on a 2tb drive raid 1 array. Heres the senarios:

---Dekstop (current rig in my sig)---

I ideally need to make a complete mirror image of the main system drive and then restore the complete image to another drive in the event of drive failure. While still being able to restore induvidual files

---Laptop---

I just need the documents and settings backed up to restore whenever it is required.

I understand windows 7 as its own back up software but my laptop is home premium and doesnt allow over the network back ups. So instead ive decided to go hunting for off the shelf software.

Ive tried Acronis and Ghost but never felt happy with them. What do you guys use and would you recommend them?

acronis true image boot cd for full image backups (I do one every few months)

robocopy for..

videos
music
steam folder
photos

Currently running a home server and that does back up as part of the out of the box set up.

But before that used Acronis True Image V10 without any problems.

If the laptop is just documents, you could use robocopy as mentioned. For the main PC which is running Pro backing up to the network with the native tool is possible. I'd recommend the built in imaging tool it is good and actually quite a bit faster than other tools I've used. Plus it's free.
