Best backup software

Have a W10 system that has the usual personal files and photos (over 1tb going back several years!).

And er...............i don't have any back up software installed

Reading some of the recent horror stories here, would back up software is recommended? (nice and simple please!).

I make a point of backing up every month, just get a external HD and transfer your important files on to it...
